Bob Mandell

Communications Director & College Planning Coach

Bob has had a long and successful career as a marketing and corporate development professional. After earning his Master’s degree in marketing and communications and being elected to Beta Gamma Sigma honors fraternity, he entered the corporate world as a junior executive. Following his ten years of corporate work, he joined an international management consulting firm where he became a Partner. His practice was focused on marketing in the area of legal support, where he had to speak to a jury or a business group. While working on his Doctorate in Business, he was invited to become an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Fairfield University, and later at Sacred Heart University, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, both in Connecticut.

A veteran and stroke survivor, he wrote Stroke Victor, How to Go from Stroke Victim to Stroke Victor as a how-to book for other survivors. The book was well received by influencers, such as the medical community and Michele Obama, who called it “inspirational.” Dr Justin McArthur, Director of Neurology at Johns Hopkins Medicine, said, “Bob brings a refreshing focus on recovery after a stroke….and mixes humor, determination and a positive attitude in this inspiring book.” Bob founded the Stroke Recovery Foundation, a 501c3 to raise stroke awareness and to coach other stroke survivors.

Today, Bob continues to assist survivors, while he works on his consulting practice, doing work for early-stage companies, and conducting internet marketing for A Skills. He and Addam have jointly redesigned our new website and rebranded the College Planning Service, renaming it Admission to College to best reflect what is being accomplished. Bob believes that the college application process is a self-marketing exercise. As such, he assists students to become more proficient at expressing themselves, both in writing and orally. Learning those skill sets will be most constructive for students as they embark on their college application journey and beyond. Guiding students to create well written and compelling essays and preparing students for college interviews is just one part of the Admission to College service, areas Bob is honored to assist Addam with at A+ Skills.
